The black-seat white-toilet trend began in classic bathrooms like this one. The combo is commonly seen with black and white basket-weave tile floors subway and penny tiles and brass fixtures. It is becoming a popular choice for homes with Victorian and art deco style. Also the black seats and lids are usually wooden; this one is ebony-stained maple. And no you do not need to worry about splinters. Pedestal sinks and claw-foot tubs work well with a black and white toilet.
With in-wall toilets the tank is not visible because it’s installed inside the wall. These toilets definitely require more of an investment than standard options especially since they tend to require more construction effort but the clean profile is popular for achieving a luxe look. I can say from personal experience that sometimes you can’t know whether an in-wall toilet is an option until the wall has been opened to reveal the plumbing arrangement so keep this in mind before plunging into a retrofit as you may have to adapt your plans accordingly.
Installation will become easier too. Systems such as ReadyLock from Kohler allow toilets to be installed without the need of additional drilling into the floor. “If you talk to plumbers there’s nothing they hate more than drilling into a marble floor” Allis says. “With our system there’s no secondary attachment point required”.
